A great way of discovering and immersing yourself in the Dominican Republic’s culture is to visit the countryside and the smaller towns. To really experience the Dominican Republic, there’s nothing better than exploring the virgin countryside in a 4×4 adventure tour!
When I took this tour, we first arrived at a world-renowned surfing beach where we could even see some great surfers riding the waves. We also had some delicious 100% Dominican coffee and freshly baked cakes. Afterwards, we went to a typical town where we visited a hundred-year-old church and a local school where we even got to talk with the children and teachers.
Gastronomy is also a fundamental aspect of getting to know a new culture. And the delicious Dominican lunch we had on the tour made this experience particularly enjoyable for our palates! Plus, we had a magnificent view! For Dominican people, drinking coffee is very important because it represents a sort of friendship ceremony and sharing as a family. So, after our delicious lunch we had a local coffee we prepared ourselves. We also visited a small coffee plantation where they told us about the history of coffee and chocolate and the great importance they have for the Dominican Republic.
Finally, we went to an isolated beach where all we had to do was relax in a comfortable hammock and enjoy the true lifestyle of this Caribbean island. With the bar at our disposal, we could enjoy one of the greatest moments of our lives!
