Ocho Rios, being a beach destination, has beautiful seas and sights that can be greatly enjoyed by a catamaran. And that’s precisely what I did. To experience and see the sights of Ocho Rios by the sea I decided to go on the Cool Runnings Catamaran tour. I was able to take a dip in the warm Caribbean Sea, dance, drink and even go see some waterfalls!
Our tour started at Mahogany Beach, where we boarded the catamaran. We were greeted by friendly hostesses who gave us a welcome cocktail while the captain gave safety tips. The adventure began with snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea where we saw reefs and colorful sea creatures. And it doesn’t matter if you’re not a great snorkeler; experienced guides are there to give instructions and tips.
We continued to have a great time as the DJ played reggae and soca music while we sailed past cascading waterfalls and historical sites.
A great plus is that the tour does not stay at sea. We docked at the foot of the famous Dunns River Falls and the guides led us up the falls through the scenic tropical forest. This place is amazing, so it’s definitely worth the detour!
But the real party began when we got back on board. The DJ pumped up the volume while we learned the latest Jamaican dance moves. It was really fun! And we got to enjoy cooling drinks from the open bar and breathe in the fresh Caribbean air.
