Punta Cana Food and Wine Festival

Punta Cana Food and Wine Festival is back for its second straight year.  Amstar Data Maintenance Specialist and Dominican hospitality ambassador Luicewil Ramirez tells us about this celebration of the fine arts of food & wine.

Punta Cana is a true Caribbean oasis. It possesses the same breathtaking beauty that often seems like if it were only a dream; a kaleidoscope of blue and green hues, crystalline waters, soft white sand beaches, and an explosion of tropical colors all in a blissfully, otherworldly tranquility.

But this is just one aspect of what makes Punta Cana such a beloved vacation hot spot in the Caribbean.

For the second consecutive year, the Punta Cana Food and Wine Festival returns to the Dominican Republic. From the creators of Taste of Santo Domingo, this world-class celebration of culinary genius and the benefits of fermented grapes will be held on June 6 and 7 at the Paradisus Punta Cana and Paradisus Palma Real resorts in Punta Cana.

Fine dining and good living will be the stars of the Punta Cana Food and Wine Festival.  For two days, the flavors and aromas of top international chefs and sommeliers will awaken the senses of those present at this tribute to the gastronomic arts. There will be cooking demonstrations, wine tasting, food pairings, cocktail parties and wine seminars.

The Punta Cana Food and Wine Festival will host three renowned figures of international gastronomy:

Takehiro Ohno, a Japanese chef specialized in food from the Basque region of Spain and one of the principal chefs on the television channel El Gourmet, Robert Reyes, a Dominican producer of premium wines from the Reyes Winery in California, and Jose Maria Ruiz, ambassador of the traditional cuisine of Segovia, Spain, who has transformed the art of cooking suckling pigs into a culinary science.

The festival’s  program is filled with gastronomic delights such as the Tapas Experience with Japanese chef Takehiro Ohno, premium wine tastings from the Reyes Winery, cooking demonstrations led by the chefs of the Paradisus resorts, beer tasting with the Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana (Dominican National Brewery), a World Class Mixology class led by Spanish mixologist Jonathan Martin Alavarez, Reserve Brand Ambassador de United Brands, a rum tasting led by Botran Rum, and a closing dinner under the culinary expertise of Chef Jose Maria Ruiz.
