In fact, of the country’s 121 volcanic formations, seven of them are active, such as the Arenal volcano located in the Guanacaste province.
Costa Rican cuisine
The most popular foods, inherited from the ancient indigenous that inhabited the land, are tamales, tortillas, corn, beans, potatoes, yuccas and “ayote,” which is a type of pumpkin. Don’t forget that rice is also a very important ingredient in Costa Rican cuisine. For instance, a common Costa Rican dish is the “Casado,” which means married in Spanish in reference to the combination of white rice and beans. The dish is served with a salad, fried plantain, and either pork, beef or chicken.

Costa Rica is a top coffee producer and dishes out one of the best quality coffees in the world. Every single coffee producer uses an established artisanal method, and each harvest the beans are collected by hand, which will guarantee an extraordinary delight with each and every sip.
Costa Rica, by law, only produces one type of coffee, “Arabica” which requires specific environmental conditions such as height, rich soil, temperature, and rainfall, to reach international quality standards.
