What does Xel-Há mean? Where does the name come from?
Xel-Há (Spanish pronunciation: [shel’ha]) means “where the water springs” or “where the water is born”; it comes from two Mayan words “Xel” (spring) and “Há” (water).
Xel-Há is located a few miles south of Playa del Carmen, over the Mexican Caribbean coastline and it is believed that the ancient Mayans named this place when they saw the amazing raw natural beauty. It is still the perfect balance between fresh and sea water; marine life and aquatic adventures.
Life with a little “Adrenalina” is always better!
During your visit to Xel-Há you will have the option to experience a rush of adrenaline with a twist.Xel-Há Park offers an activity called “Adrenalina” (adrenaline) which is a speedboat excursion and adventure in the azure waters of the Mexican Caribbean or, even better, an opportunity to view the Tulum archaeological site from a unique point of view: the ocean.
See the Tulum pyramids as intended by the Mayans for approaching vessels while you enjoy a fun-filled rush of “Adrenalina” at the same time. 360° turns at 56 miles per hour are just part of this experience you will want to share with your friends and family. Another great place to experience the “Adrenalina” rush to the fullest is at Xcaret Eco-Park.
Zip-Bike! Zip-line? No, Zip-Bike!!
Yes, “Zip-Bike”! We are not getting it wrong! At Xel-Há you can go on a circuit of zip-lines and ropes that are fun; but, not as fun as the new Zip-Bike circuit available at Xel-Há Park! Cycle above the canopy and treetops while you enjoy the magnificent beautify of the Caribbean jungle that will surround you. Listen carefully for the sounds of the forest and all the fauna that inhabits it.
This activity takes about 30 minutes to complete and it includes everything you need to have a fun and safe experience. This is an alternative if you want to travel above the canopy at your pace!
Reconnect with nature at Xel-Há Park
Xel-Há Park is also the perfect spot to connect back to nature. You can take your time to stroll along jungle trails or hop on a bicycle for a ride through the rainforest. Too hot? Jump in the crystal-clear waters of the ocean or the many fresh-water rivers that cross through Xel-Há. Put on your gear and snorkel to see the marine life that inhabits below the surface. Cool down in the waters within the caves for a unique experience. Relax at the many spots by the beach or the lagoon while you sip on a deliciously cold drink to replenish your energy and keep on exploring.
