Every year, during the last days before Lent, Cozumel celebrates an amazing Carnival where people from all ages participate in the largest party of the whole island!!
Imagine Caribbean dancing groups setting the beat to salsa, reggae, and mambo, and many other rhythms! Imagine everyone is dressed up in elegant costumes, aiming to win the King and Queen Awards of the Cozumel Carnival! Imagine kids of all ages, from different schools, dancing everywhere!
It’s five days of intense folklore! It is a fantastically colored carnival parade, where locals and tourists alike participate dancing and singing in a safe ambiance. Many popular music bands play all night at the main square while people dance, eat traditional Cozumel food, and have refreshing, delicious, tropical drinks!
Everyone is seen dancing and having fun everywhere! You will find them in your hotel lobby, out in the streets, in the main square, everywhere! In addition, it seems like they never grow tired! The party goes on and on!
On Tuesday, the very day before Ash Wednesday, the largest parade creates a big festival in town! And by the end of the Carnival, great fireworks light up the Cozumel night sky! It truly is a show that you should not miss!
