Tucked away on the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula, there’s something very raw and real about the natural beauty of Los Cabos. As one of Mexico’s most exclusive destinations, 220 miles south of La Paz, Los Cabos has the ideal climate for a Mexican adventure and boasts an annual average temperature of 79F (26C).

The hidden beauty of the Cabo desert

Surrounded by mountains and arid tropical rain forests (locally referred to as the desert), as dry as the surrounding areas may look, the cactus-lined fields are full of nature and wildlife.

The mountains of the peninsula can receive substantial rains and periodically, large amounts of water are washed down the river beds. Even though the arroyos may appear dry most of the year, moisture is retained in the soil and they are lined with hardy shrubs, trees, and flowering plants. Because of the twice-yearly rainfall, both winter and summer annuals grow on the peninsula and perennial plants are able to survive as well. Discover the best tours in Los Cabos desert!

Why go to Canyon de la Zorra?

One of the perfect ways to discover the flora and fauna is to head to the local village of Miraflores, located in “Canyon de la Zorra” (Fox Canyon) on the East Coast.  Situated at the base of the mountains, this traditional village was originally established by British invaders and most local families have kept their old British names.
