Huatulco, Heaven on Earth

Bahias de Huatulco is a very unique tourism development area based on eco-tourism. The name Huatulco comes from the Mixtecan word meaning “where they worship the wood”. It is located along the coast of Oaxaca, at the end of the Southern Sierra Madre Mountains. It stretches 22 miles along the Pacific Ocean between the mouths of the Coyula and the Copalita River. You will find its famous 9 bays and 36 pristine beaches within Huatulco’s National Park zone.  Once you visit Huatulco, you will come back year after year.

Huatulco is known for its perfect climate. It is warm to hot, with a year round average temperature of 82 °F. Winter temperatures are never below 75 °F, and the late spring and summers high temperature is 105 °F. Huatulco has an average of 20 rainy days a year, so you can have a guaranteed sun tan while vacationing in this paradise.

The animal life is typical of tropical zones. Armadillos, jaguar, squirrel, fox, and white-tail deer can be found around Huatulco. There are a great variety of reptiles including the black and green iguana, many species of exotic snakes, and several species of sea turtles. Additionally, there are 227 registered bird species from which 11 are endemic of this area. Huatulco is rich in sea life with many species of fish, oysters, lobster, clams, shrimp, and snails. The black and white coral off the shores is home to many species of water life and make for a great day out snorkeling.
