5 sure symptoms you’re in need of a vacation

We know, we know. You’re indispensable at work; if you leave, how will Martha from accounting know where the hidden stash of sweet & low is kept or your boss will go mad without your pure genius. Or worst, everybody will survive without you. *gasp!* But take note, if you’re exhibiting these 5 warning signs, it’s time to take a vacation and let Martha and your boss take care of themselves for a couple (or 10) days.

1.- You’re a traffic nutcase

Your daily commute to work is stressful, we know. It seems there are more cars every day and traffic is insufferable but most of the time you had been able to handle it, stress-free. Nowadays, however, you’ve joined the choir of honks polluting the city and tormenting the poor fellah whose car broke down in the middle of the interstate. The worst thing is you’ve taken this grumpy new you into all aspects of your life. You’re in dire need of a little R&R.

2.- Your cat has more social interaction than you

The most exciting post on your social media was a video of your cat sleeping and that was 48 weeks ago. It’s understandable you can’t post all your life on social media but your friends are thoroughly worried about your Instagram disappearing act. We love #instacats as much as the next guy but perhaps an endless stream of vacation photos is in order. After your vacation, of course; make sure you actually disconnect from your phone and fully enjoy your getaway.

3.- Your body is screaming vacation

Your body is screaming to take a much-needed break. You try to eat right, exercise but you’re feeling much uninspired lately and have slacked off which means you’ve gained a couple of extra pounds. In addition, your body aches all the time, you’re having trouble sleeping and you have huge dark circles under your eyes. Studies have shown that skipping vacation days or time off can take a serious toll on your health including a higher risk of stroke or heart attack induced by stress. Let’s not let it get to that and just let your body rest.

4.- You’ve watched Friends way too many times

If the most exciting thing you’ve lived through is re-runs of Grey’s Anatomy and Friends on Netflix, it’s time to book your own adventure. It’s easy to get lost in made-up drama but there’s also a big and beautiful world out there for you to explore – even the Friends gang went on vacation that one time. With the right planning, you’ll be able to get a good deal on flights, hotel and excursions and in addition, be able to save up for your getaway. We know Rachel gets off the plane, but when will you get on one?

5.- You have a terrible memory. Or it’s been too long.

It’s been so long since you’ve taken a vacation that your beachwear has gone through the in-out-in style cycle a couple of times. Well it doesn’t matter if you’re swimsuit is in the out-of-style stage, pack that puppy along with your renewed passport, new biodegradable sunblock (it’s a thing now) and tropical vacation tips and itinerary. It’s time for you to take a much needed and much deserved vacation.
