The sea turtle release season in Puerto Vallarta is about to start. This is actually due to the high light pollution, which means that there is an excess of light during the night. Too much light causes disorientation in the baby turtles and prevents them from reaching the bay and open waters, where they are in less danger.
Before the turtle release, participants receive a briefing where experts explain the importance of the protection of sea turtles, why we do it, and how we do it. They explain what will happen to the turtles once they are released, all the way till they reach adulthood and come back to breed.
