If you are spending your vacation in the Mexican Caribbean, don’t miss the opportunity to experience a great Mexican Fiesta which combines the atmosphere of a Mexican party with authentic Mexican food, music, culture and also a bit of its history. The name of all this is Xoximilco.
Xoximilco Cancun
Xoximilco Cancun is an imitation of the original Xochimilco in Mexico City, a great system of “floating gardens” (divided by a huge system of water channels). Xochimilco is a historical phenomenon dating back to the Aztec Empire when these gardens were established as pieces of fertile land in what was a huge lake at the time.

The interesting thing about this is that during the past centuries the capital citizens adopted the entire region as an entertainment area with boats (the so-called “trajineras“) where they could go with friends or the whole family to enjoy the culinary specialties of Mexico and listen to live music from bands, trios and mariachis.
Xoximilco Park
Xoximilco Cancun has adopted this wonderful environment, and visitors are welcomed with small typical dishes and snacks upon the arrival. Then, everyone will go on board the trajinera where there is space for 20 people comfortably seated. From the very beginning, the environment is cheerful and positive among the visitors of many different nationalities.
In each trajinera a guide, who becomes very familiar as the night passes on with his anecdotes and great sense of humor, will ensure that everyone is comfortable and well served all time, and a rower will row the boat slowly around in the extensive system of water channels. Our hosts serve the most typical and delicious dishes and drinks of Mexico while different funny games are displayed. We are certainly very well entertained and feed!
Xoximilco provides guests with an excellent opportunity to savor delicious food (there are also options for vegans) and drinks (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic) as you look upon the starry sky, all while listening to some folktales and enjoying lots of Mexican music. We made several times along the way through these man-made channels so that other trajineras full of talented musicians could play and invite everyone to dance and sing with them.
To be honest, the atmosphere is perfect, and everyone I saw was laughing and having a great time. And although I was very satisfied after trying plenty of the delicious dishes, I couldn’t hold back my enthusiasm to enter the “dance floor” and try the Northern style dance steps, the salsa, mariachi and marimba that sound out in the night. Many people dance, others simply enjoy hanging out in this environment.
Xoximilco is an excellent opportunity for a Mexican night of great joy in the company of other people to savor real Mexican food and music. I highly recommended Xoximilco Cancun for everyone!
